Hickory Harvest
in the Oley Valley
Tuesday, October 13, 4-8pm
Oley, PA
Yellowbud hickory, also known as bitternut, is a native nut tree that has grown across this region for centuries. At Bloom Farm, we're working with partners like Rodale Institute to bring native tree crops like this one back into how we eat, and it all starts with the harvest. Join us for an afternoon outdoors gathering hickory nuts, getting to know the trees, and learning what happens after the nuts leave the forest floor, including how they're pressed into oil at Third Place Processing just down the road.
No experience needed and all ages are welcome! This event is free but space is limited.
Food will be provided for harvesters!

Most of the farmhouse dates back to the 1800s. The oldest part of the house, including our special wood-fired oven, dates back to 1760! Some additions were completed in 2007 and were constructed to blend seamlessly into the existing architecture. You may encounter some creaky floor boards during your stay – we consider this part of the charm of a historic farmhouse.
