Heritage & Harmony: Yoga & Matcha Experience
w/ Kent Ishimoto &
Yoshitsugue Nagano

Friday, June 26 – Sunday, June 28, 2026
2-night all-inclusive stay

Join us at Bloom Farm in the historic Oley Valley for a weekend immersion into experiencing the art of tea, harmony, and community through Yoga and Japanese Tea Ceremony.  The experience will be led by a certified Tea Master Yoshitsugue Nagano from Hiroshima, Japan.  His passion and desire to spread the art of tea led him to move to New York in 2019.  Kent Ishimoto, A Yoga instructor/Tea Practitioner will be teaching yoga to hone the body and focus the mind to help participate in the activities.

Throughout the immersion, we will be getting to know the lay of the land and use the historic water of Oley Valley for making Matcha tea for the Tea Ceremonies.  The tea ceremonies will be done in different locations and times to embrace the land and season.  The act of sharing a bowl of matcha will help us harmonize with nature and the community that came together.  Yoga will be practiced to compliment those experiences through body movements, breath work and meditation.

A special offering in this immersion is the Chashaku (Tea Scoop) wood crafting workshop.  The chashaku is one of the most essential tools in the art of making matcha. Throughout history, renowned tea masters such as Sen no Rikyū and Furuta Oribe have carved their own chashaku, using them as an expression of their personal aesthetics. Many of these hand-carved tea scoops remain preserved today, serving as a testament to their legacy. For this reason, the chashaku is often referred to as the “sword of the tea master.”

In this hands-on workshop, you will carve your very own chashaku from bent bamboo, experiencing the process of shaping a tool that will become an intimate part of your tea ritual. Once your tea scoop is complete and ready for use, you will give it a name—a single word that reflects the feeling of the moment, the current season, or a Zen phrase that resonates with you. This name will honor the spirit in which the chashaku was created and serve as a quiet reminder of your connection to the Way of Tea.

You’ll leave the weekend with a deeper understanding of Matcha and the culture that grew from it.   You will feel a sense of connection and harmony through the practices and rituals that will leave an impression long after the immersion.  And you will walk away with your own handcrafted chashaku.
