Bloom Farm is a sanctuary for self-exploration, continued education, and collective well-being.

Our aim is to grow more than just food at Bloom Farm. Once home to the Lenni Lenape tribe, the Oley Valley has a rich history for healing.

Built on the belief that food is medicine, Bloom Farm’s regenerative approach to agriculture grows nutritious produce while restoring its ecosystem. Bloom Farm strives to provide educational programs that highlight the impact of food insecurity on our health and communities.

Our Story

Hi!

My name is Sam Nana-Sinkam and I am the Founding Partner of Bloom Farm. Our farm has a story rooted in agriculture, diversity, and perspective. Most of my childhood was spent in Sub-Saharan Africa watching my father build food systems for countries in the region. When political turmoil struck, we were forced to move back to our mother's childhood hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, an agricultural hub with a history of farming pioneered by early settlers.

From Central Africa to the home of the Amish, I had an up-close view of how powerful agriculture can be. After 15 years working in tech, I started Bloom Farm to make my dream of building a regenerative farm and restorative retreat center a reality. Bloom is my wife’s maiden name and in many ways, this project is a love letter to her as well as my family past, present, and future.

Our talented team is currently working towards restoring what once was a thriving 18th-century tree farm and we’ll celebrate our first year of stewardship with programs ranging from yoga retreats, seasonal dinners, climate conversations, artist residencies, and, of course, gardening events. In a world where everything is scaled, cheap, flawless, and fast, returning to nature is more important than ever.

In service,

The Land

We acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the Lenni Lenape people.

As young farmers of color, we’re mindful of creating this platform of knowledge and access for all people. Our partnerships empower us to offer learning experiences for anyone interested in sustainable farming and we’re open to working with any 501c that shares our mission. If you have someone in mind, please reach out to hello@bloomfarm.com.

Oley Heritage Sites

Sacred Oak of Oley
The local Lenni Lenape tribal elders claim the tree's reverence as a place of healing goes back several hundred years.

Oley Hills Site
A complex of snaking dry stone walls, carefully shaped from rock piles and unusually shaped natural boulders runs along the Oley Hills. A luminescence analysis of the site suggests they were erected around 570 BC.
